Four people in New York, Los Angeles, and Germany. Stopping, noticing, sharing - one photo/four people/every day. (For now we are just three, but hopefully four again soon.)
My husband suggested getting a pizza at a local place that we used to frequent years ago; my dad and some of his buddies used to hang out there at the bar; he was a well known regular; my dad's been gone for over 8 years yet while we waited for our pizza we checked out the photos on display and it made me smile to see an old photo of my dad and mom as well as a family friend, Jimmy, who also passed a way a few years ago; brought back many fond memories; it was like I could still picture him sitting on a bar stool laughing and having a beer with his buddies..
When I work, sometimes I listen to my local public radio station. I will jot down the name of an artist whose song I liked, or an author being interviewed. Today I sat down at my work table and saw this note that I made, I don't know when. "9.20 Book of Forever" I don't know what it is. I don't know what it means. I don't know why I wrote it down, but it even got a circle around it.
It's not that I just today noticed this hole in my ceiling. I look at it all the time. Every morning while I'm waiting for my coffee to brew. Every afternoon as I wash the dishes. It's been there a long time. The thing is, we're getting it fixed. In a week or two, the hole in the ceiling will be gone. And suddenly, weirdly, I'm feeling as if I might miss it.
My new goal is to put things away. Right away. To not lay things down and say to myself, "Later, I'll put that away later." But I sort of like the way this pile of camping chairs looks, leaning against my studio in the backyard. And maybe I'm still hoping I'll find some way to get a few more days at a campground before this year ends.
